E Matrix TM: The task manager that gets you moving, not managing

I love task management, but often we can get lost in making sure every task has a date, it has an area or project it belongs to, and then we have a task manager that is really just more messy than if we tried to keep it all in our brain!

This is where the E Matrix TM comes into play!

This is a mega simply task manager that is built from the concept of the Eisenhower Matrix but designed for the individual user (since a non-urgent, non-important task can't be delegated if we are working by ourselves...)

So here is how it works:

Step 1 —add a task

There is a simple button at the top of the dashboard that will then give you this page to input the details of your task. You can use one of the templates —this will automatically allocate importance and urgency, or you can do it manually. Once those are done, the task is added without needing to even go to the inbox!

Step 2 —allocate a task

Personally, I use an Apple Shortcut on my phone to add tasks. This then means my tasks need sorting once I next open up my task manager. So, for me, they end up here —the inbox.

Once in here, I can allocate importance to a task and an urgency to a task.

Step 3 —get tasks done!

Enter here the genius of the E-Matrix system! Let me break it down for you!

🔥 Do Now —is a task that is both important and urgent. This means that it is something that you should focus on first and not stop till it is done. Don’t get distracted by anything else.

⏭️ Do Next —is a task that is not important but is urgent, like sending the minutes from a meeting you had that day, or a booking that needs to be made for next week. They are urgent, but they shouldn't be the focus of your day.

Do Later —these are the tasks that are important but don't have an urgency. Although they could become urgent if they aren't dealt with soon! Once everything urgent is completed, this is a great place to spend time, on tasks and projects that are coming up and likely need a bunch of time allocated to them. The best place to live is here, before it becomes urgent.

🌿 Do Whenever —here is the last list, items that are both unimportant and have no urgency. They are often things like groceries, shopping, errands, ideas, movies to watch, books to read, and other random tasks that need to be recorded but aren't of importance right now (although easy to add a higher importance to it later).

BOOM! That's the system. There are no due dates, there are no projects, there are no processes of tasks more than a checkbox.

I hope by now you think this is the template for you, and if you want this but with a bunch more features then check out the pro version! If you want to see more of my work then follow me on Threads or Substack ✌🏻
